Beatriz Contreras has over 20 years’ experience with data analysis and GIS. Before joining WEMC, she participated in a four-year project that created a platform hosting remote sensing products providing relevant information for Agriculture, Health and Risk sectors in Latin America.  She has also worked as a postgraduate lecturer and in out of school education.

She has a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, and MSc in Marine Ecology from CICESE and a BSc in Biology from UNAM, Mexico. Beatriz joined WEMC in Sep 2021, initially working to develop a WMO website for the Energy sector that will include a Global Energy Resilience Atlas and supporting the organization and delivery of capacity building courses.
