Omari HamisiData Engineer

Omari holds his BSc in Meteorology from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Tanzania. After graduating in 2018, he immediately joined the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) as an intern Meteorologist, where he spent most of his time in climate data processing, analysis, visualization, and generation of tailored climate products for different sectors, including energy. 

He implemented several projects, including the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture (PICSA), and Focus-Africa project, all in Tanzania. He also participated in research with two publications (https://doi.org/10.4236/acs.2021.114044, https://doi.org/10.4236/acs.2020.103018 ). 

Omari is interested in simplifying meteorological data acquisition, analytics, and product generation as he developed several graphical user interfaces, including Gridded Data Extraction Tool (GriDET). 

Omari joined WEMC in June 2022 as a Data Engineer, working on data quality control, analysis and processing for the statistical model to enhance hydroelectric power generation in the Focus-Africa project.
