  • Domenico Laforgia Head of Economic Development, Innovation, Education and Vocational Training Department of the Apulia Region

    Prof. Laforgia is a Head of Department in the Apulian Region, and a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Machines, Energy Systems and Environment) at the University of Salento.  Before beginning his university career he worked as a design engineer at Ferrari, in Maranello.
    His research embraces two sectors, that of engines combustion and the one linked to energy issues.

  • Christine Lins Executive Secretary of REN21

    Ms. Christine Lins was appointed as Executive Secretary of REN21, the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century, in July 2011. She came to REN21 from the European Renewable Energy Council where she served as Secretary-General for 10 years. Previously, she worked in a regional energy agency in her home country, Austria. Ms. Lins holds more than 20 years of working experience in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

  • Florence Rabier Director-General of ECMWF

    Dr. Florence Rabier is an internationally recognised expert in Numerical Weather Prediction, whose leadership has greatly contributed to delivering major operational changes at both ECMWF and Météo-France. Dr Rabier has been the Director-General of ECMWF since January 2016, after two years leading the Centre’s Forecast Department. Her career so far has taken her back and forth between Météo-France and ECMWF.

  • Giles Dickson CEO of WindEurope

    Prior to joining WindEurope, Mr. Dickson was Vice President of Global Public Affairs at Alstom. He was also a civil servant in the UK Government for over 15 years. WindEurope is the voice of the European wind industry and represents the entire value chain of wind power: turbine manufacturers, component suppliers, power utilities, project developers, financial institutions and research institutes.

    Mr. Smith is a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society; a member of CIGRE, the International Council on Large Electric Systems; a member of the American Meteorological Society; a US representative to the IEA Wind Annex Task 25 on Design and Operation of Power Systems with Large Amounts of Wind Power,and a Fellow of the IEEE.

  • Vera Silva Program Director, Electricity Systems and Markets, EDF

    Vera Silva is currently the Director of the research program on « Electricity systems and markets» at EDF R&D. She has 18 years of experience in the power systems industry and for the last 11 years she led several studies on the integration of renewables to the European system. She is a member of the advisory board of the IEA System integration of renewables unit. Before joining EDF she was a research assistant at the Imperial College London and a lecturer at the electrical engineering department of the Polytechnic instruct of Porto.

  • Qingchen Chao Deputy Director-General and Professor of Beijing Climate Center

    Dr. Qingchen Chao has been the Deputy Director-General of National Climate Center, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) since December 2011. Her responsibility covers climate change research and services, as well as international cooperation. Dr. Chao serves as the member of Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Steering Committees and has been involved in the work of the UNFCCC and IPCC for 14 years as one of the Chinese delegates.

  • Andrea Steiner Research Scientist, German Weather Service (DWD)

    Andrea Steiner is a research scientist at the German Weather Service (DWD) within the department for meteorological analysis and modelling since 2013. Her research activities contribute to multi-lateral cooperation projects with the energy sector, where DWD aims at improving its numerical weather models for Renewable Energy applications. Her focus is on short range forecasts of hub height wind speeds as well as on dispersion modelling of mineral dust that is influencing the photovoltaic power production in Germany.
