Thank you for attending ICEM 2018!

ICEM 2018 had 8 plenary presentations from high profile executives from Chinese, African, European and US organisations. The conference programme included more than 70 presentations on topics ranging from forecasting, energy resource assessment and environmental impacts of energy, to big data, grid integration and smart grids.

ICEM 2018 attracted a combination of industry, academic and student delegates from across the world. 150 delegates attended the conference, representing 23 different countries.

The conference featured four workshops which provided presentations, discussions and collaboration on four key topics: Weather, climate and water services for energy: gaps and solutions; Data exchanges, access and standard; Interannual variability of renewable energy resources; and Energy-meteorology education.

The conference ended with an exciting awards ceremony in which 3 delegates were highlighted for their contribution to the conference. The first award was for the Young Scientist Award. The inaugural award winner for this prize was Yuqing Yang, for her work entitled “An analysis on battery sizing to compensate forecasting errors in a hybrid PV and wind power plant”. The second conference award was for the Best Poster Presentation which was won by Xin Xie for his poster “Comparison of numerical modelling including stability effects to assess an urban or peri-urban wind resource”. The final award was to mark the best student presentation. The winner of this prize was Hadrien Verbois for his presentation “Tree-based probabilistic forecasting of day-ahead solar irradiance”.

The 6th ICEM will be hosted in Lyngby, Copenhagen – Denmark, from 24 – 27 June 2019.
