New Atlas Published by UN Environment and African Development Bank Shows Energy Potential of Africa

A new Atlas released by the UN Environment and African Development Bank shows energy consumption in Africa is the lowest in the world, and per capita consumption has barely changed since 2000.

The Atlas consolidates information on the energy landscape in Africa and it provides information in the form of detailed ‘before and after’ images, charts, maps and other satellite data from 54 countries through visuals detailing the challenges and opportunities in providing Africa’s population with access to reliable, affordable and modern energy services.

Details on the main findings and key concerns in the Atlas can be read in UNEP’s Press Release at http://www.unep.org/newscentre/new-atlas-shows-energy-potential-africa-and-opportunities-investment-meet-africa’s-energy-needs
